During my civilian service, I looked after and accompanied elderly people in their own homes. During these two years, a close relationship developed through my visits. It was only after 12 months that I asked if I could take some photos with my camera for a photo exhibition.

Many people agreed and I took these photos on black and white film with my old Hasselblad 500 C. The exhibition took place in the local museum of local history, and some photo models happily attended the opening.

Zeitmagazin showed great interest in my photographs in 1988 and sent a journalist to write the text in 1989. But then the Berlin Wall fell and no editorial team wanted to show ageing people...
